What is CastiaMC?
CastiaMC is a Minecraft Java survival server where several things that usually live on separate servers all exist in the same world: town building, a player-driven economy, jobs and skills progression, and PvE gameplay. You don’t have to pick a mode — it’s all one place.
The glue holding it together is Towny, a land-claim plugin that lets players found towns, protect their builds, and manage land as a community. But Towny is just the foundation. On top of it you’ll find a full economy, levelling systems, custom content, and seasonal events — all in a friendly, moderated environment that’s been running since 2016.
How Towns Work
A town starts with a single player: the Mayor. The Mayor claims a plot of land using in-game currency (earned through jobs, trading, or selling items), then invites other players to join as Residents.
Once you’re in a town:
- Your land is protected. Only town members — or players you explicitly trust — can build or break on claimed plots. Griefing simply can’t happen inside town borders.
- You share a treasury. Towns have a small daily upkeep cost. The community pools money to keep the town funded, which encourages cooperation.
- Plots have types. Mayors can designate plots as residential, shop, farm, and more — each with its own permissions and purpose.
- You can move up. Active residents can be promoted to Assistant or Co-Mayor to help run the town day to day.
Starting your own town
Save up enough in-game currency, run /town new <name>, and you’re a Mayor. Your town starts with one claimed chunk and expands as your population grows — more residents means more land you can claim.
Economy and Jobs
The economy is player-driven. There’s no admin shop selling everything — supply and demand comes from actual players working, trading, and building.
- Jobs — Pick a profession: Miner, Farmer, Builder, Hunter, Fisherman, and more. You earn money automatically just by doing that activity in-game.
- Skills — Jobs level up over time through McMMO, unlocking passive bonuses like double drops, faster mining, or stronger fishing catches.
- Player shops — Set up a chest shop on your town plot and sell goods directly to other players.
- The market — A central trading area at spawn where players list items for others to browse and buy.
- Fishing — CastiaMC has a custom fishing system with rare collectible fish. Catch them, sell them for Tokens via
/fish, and spend Tokens on exclusive rewards.
Money pays for town upkeep, land expansion, player trades, and anything you want to build or buy in the world.
PvE and Events
CastiaMC is a PvE-first server. Your claimed town land is always PvP-off — you’re safe building and playing without worrying about other players attacking you. The wilderness between towns is where monsters roam and resources are gathered.
Seasonal events layer extra PvE content on top of everyday survival:
- Boss invasions — Special mobs like the Magmalivion spawn for the whole server to fight together, with top-damage rewards.
- Community goals — Server-wide challenges (like the Earth Day ocean cleanup or Halloween pumpkin deliveries) where everyone works toward shared rewards.
- Holiday events — Christmas present hunts, Easter egg events, and more appear throughout the year.
What Makes CastiaMC Different?
A lot of survival servers run one of these features. CastiaMC runs all of them in the same world, with a community that’s been together long enough to actually care about the place.
- Running since 2016 — 8 map seasons, 500,000+ players, and a server that’s still actively developed.
- Friendly, moderated community — Active staff team, enforced rules, and a Discord where players actually help each other.
- No pay-to-win — The store sells cosmetics only. Economy progression is earned in-game, not purchased.
- Seasonal maps — The world resets each season so the economy stays fresh and new players always have a fair start.
- Proximity voice chat — Talk to nearby players in-game without a separate Discord call.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is CastiaMC free to play?
Yes, completely. The store sells cosmetics — hats, pets, join/leave messages — but nothing that gives a gameplay or economy advantage. Everything meaningful is earned by playing.
What Minecraft version do I need?
Java Edition 1.21 or newer. Bedrock Edition (console, mobile, Windows app) is not compatible — Towny runs on Java only.
Do I have to join a town?
No. You can play as a nomad in the wilderness. You won’t have land protection though, and unclaimed land can be absorbed by expanding towns. Most players settle into a town within their first few sessions — it’s much easier to get started in an existing one than to build alone.
Is there PvP?
Claimed town land is always PvP-off. You’re safe inside your borders. The wilderness has PvP enabled, and there are dedicated PvP arenas for players who want to fight. Nobody is forced into PvP.
What happens at a map reset?
The world and economy reset so everyone starts fresh. We’ve run 8 seasons since 2016. Resets are announced well in advance in Discord so you have time to save screenshots or schematics.
